Drs. James Kiley, Carol Blaisdell, Dorothy Gail, and Barry Schmetter of the NHLBI Division of Lung Diseases were selected to receive the first-ever Partnership Award from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). The team was honored during an awards ceremony at the NIH's Lipsett Amphitheater on Jan. 18.
NICHD created the award to recognize individuals, groups, or organizations at the NIH that have played a significant role in helping to advance NICHD's mission or one or more specific institute activities. The DLD team was nominated for its "exceptional commitment and support for respiratory trials for prematurity" that were conducted by the Neonatal Research Network and the Maternal Fetal Medicine Units Network.
"NICHD would not be nearly as successful in its efforts if it were not for valued partners like you," said NICHD Director Dr. Alan Guttmacher, who thanked the team for its significant contributions.
