Dr. Shurin Meets with Women Medical Students

Dr. Shurin speaks to young women medical students at a conference table

NHLBI Acting Director Susan B. Shurin, M.D., recently met with a group of women medical students in a retreat-style setting in Reston, Va. The event, the Women's Empowerment Institute, was co-sponsored by the American Medical Student Association and the American Medical Women's Association. Dr. Shurin's remarks on the art and science of leadership offered personal reflections and professional guidance for the future physicians.

"Everyone enjoyed Dr. Shurin's talk. She was an incredibly powerful speaker," said Elizabeth Ann Greenstein, University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine Class of 2013.
