The Institute is seeking a dynamic physician-scientist to provide strategic leadership for its Division of Blood Diseases and Resources (DBDR). The Director will assume responsibility for creating and nurturing internationally-renowned programs which will participate actively in international research in hematologic diseases and disorders of thrombosis and hemostasis across the spectrum of basic science and clinical research including translational research and the conduct of a wide variety of clinical trials. Cellular therapies and the use of a wide variety of blood products and substitutes are within the mission of the Division. The DBDR Director will have a profound impact upon the national investment in research, and the quality of service to the international research community. The Director, DBDR will have the opportunity to advocate for areas of critical importance to the national and global populace, to establish and implement programs congruent with the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute’s strategic plan, and to improve the health of the public. Applicants must possess an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree, as well as senior level research experience, interpersonal and communications expertise and ability. The successful candidate will be a respected, accomplished researcher with maturity, integrity and outstanding communication skills.
